O Lacen\/SC (Laborat\u00f3rio Central de Sa\u00fade P\u00fablica<\/a>) divulgou na \u00faltima quinta-feira (8) o quarto caso da variante Alfa da Covid-19 detectado em Santa Catarina. Tamb\u00e9m chamada de \u201cvariante inglesa\u201d ou B.1.1.7, ela foi documentada em Brusque, no Vale do Itaja\u00ed. Os outros tr\u00eas casos foram registrados em Florian\u00f3polis, em janeiro e fevereiro deste ano.<\/p>\n

A Alfa \u00e9 uma das quatro muta\u00e7\u00f5es classificadas no grupo de preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o pela OMS (Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial da Sa\u00fade), junto a Gama (detectada pela primeira vez no Brasil), Beta (\u00c1frica do Sul) e Delta (\u00cdndia). At\u00e9 ent\u00e3o, apenas as variantes Alfa e Gama j\u00e1 tinham sido registradas em solo catarinense.<\/p>\n

A variante inglesa foi identificada pela primeira vez em setembro de 2020, no Reino Unido. Ela causou a segunda onda de Covid-19 no pa\u00eds europeu. Os estudos divergem sobre a variante ser mais grave que o v\u00edrus original, mas apontam taxa de transmiss\u00e3o maior.<\/p>\n
